we made it to a little town a little less than an hour north of leeville and stopped at walmart where i found these dreamy babies!
we got our groceries and headed on to bobby lynn's marina with just enough time to unpack, grab a bite to eat, and load up the boat to head bowfishing for the night.
i was super excited about this weekend. i was pretty sure i had all my video equipment ready and i had a new recurve to try out. AND dustin was going to shoot the pvc bow that skippy sent us! fast forward to the second night (because the first kinda sucked).....
half of the fun of bowfishing is the people you meet.... everyone is curious about the boat, the bows and how everything works. being a holiday weekend, there were a LOT of people staying at the marina and a good many were locals.
we hadn't been on the water long the second night when a small jon boat pulled up along side of us. these guys had their mean faces on and pistols on their hips. a lot of marsh in south louisiana can be owned by individuals and sometimes it's pretty hard to tell where their "property" begins and ends. i won't lie.... i was a little freaked out. they didn't look too thrilled with us being there and i wanted to leave immediately. but god love my husband, he can charm anyone. after apologizing and the owner showing us on the GPS where we were and how to get out, he told us we were welcome to fish our way out. eventually that turned into, "you can fish here tonight..." and after half an hour and a lot of bs'ing later, phone numbers were exchanged and plans were made for us to come back and take him bowfishing. he hopped off our boat, threw dustin about eight 10 oz. beers, put on his night vision goggles and they were gone. luckily they turned out to be really cool guys...
figured that would be the best time for me to put my camera down, turn on the gopro mounted on a stand in the boat and commence to killing some fish! i finally got the hang of having to pull the recurve all the way back instead of the snap shooting i was used to with my oneida osprey.... we limited out on redfish, shot some sheepshead, a black drum, a few gator gar, and two flounder.
we got back about daybreak and cleaned the fish. a few of the boys managed an hour or two of sleep before the cleaning lady chased us out..... till next time!
